Born in late 1930, Alkotaina and received his education first, middle, many of the cities of Sudan, where the caravan with his uncle. Participated in demonstrations against colonialism in 1946 during the stage of the political movement of the Conference of the graduates.

Became General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sudan following the assassination of Abdul-Khaliq Mahgoub in 1971 and then disappeared from the system May until April 1985 uprising.
Elected member of parliament for the Communist Party of Sudan in 1986. Continued to initiate work tasks parliament and the political to June 1989.
Started political action until the fifth General Conference of the Communist Party of Sudan in January 2009 where he was elected secretary of the Communist Party politically.
Many of his compositions: "Issues of Democracy in Sudan" and "dialogue about the tendencies of material in the philosophy of the Arab-Islamic" and "relations of the ground in Sudan: the margins of the documents of ownership of the land" and "relations of slavery in the Sudanese society" and "dialogue on the civil state. "
